Club Races for 2011/12

Each year we organise a Club Championship, a Handicap Championship and a Fell Championship.  We have trophies for both female and male winners of these Championships.

This year, there have been a few changes to the way the Club Championships will work.  The Fell Championship has now been separated from the main Club Championship and they will be decided as follows:

In the Club Championship your best 10 races out of the 16 chosen road and trail races count towards your points total. In the Fell Championship your best 5 races from the chosen 8 fell races count.  In the Handicap Championship the same races count in both the main Club Championship and Fell Championship, but runners receive extra points (based on their given handicap at the start of the season).  The current Club Championship started at the Norton 9 on the 6th March 2011.

Current Standings in Club Championship as at 27th July 2011

We also organise our Summer and Winter Handicap races – starting from the Community Centre at Meltham.  The Summer Handicap event (albeit with a wintery feel!) was held on the 11th May 2010 with an excellent turnout of 28 runners – over half of the club membership.  The Winter Handicap was last held on the 15th Jan 2012.

At the end of the season, the trophies are awarded at our Annual Dinner.  This year’s event is organised for Friday 16th March at Meltham Golf Club, where we are to be treated to a full carvery and disco!
