270 runners lined up for the Meltham 10K. Well known as a tough and challenging course at the best of times, this year runners also had to contend with icy conditions underfoot on parts of the course.
Local runner Mark Buckingham (Holmfirth Harriers) hit the front early on and ran out a comfortable winner in 34 mins 08 secs. Glen Comish (Sale Harriers) and Edward Mitchell were together at half distance, before Comish pulled away over the closing miles to record a time of 35 mins 09 secs, with Mitchell holding onto third a further minute behind.
In the Ladies race Julie Buckley (Penistone FPR) was a clear winner from Denby Dale’s Lesley Leggett, with Sarah Walker (Holmfirth) in third.
